Working Cattle Ranch
Claresholm, Alberta

Lucasia Ranch, Alberta - cozy cabinThis Family Ranch invites you to stay on their ranch as part of their folks. You may sleep in a cute double room in the ranch house, in an original old homestead cabin or in the new fancy cabin on the ranch premises. Delicious home cooked meals are served in the ranch house where you eat together with the family, Wayne, Judy and their two sons.
After a hearty breakfast Wayne or one of his sons will invite you for a ride to check the 250 head of cattle in the Porcupine Hills. The afternoon might be spend watching the brood mares of the ranch. The family is very successful in breeding Percherons, a very popular draft horse breed. The broodmare band counts 30 head and the ranch has plenty of foals every year.

On your rides through the hills and timber you'll see deer, elk, coyotes and even black bears.

The two sons of the family are active team ropers and meet with their buddies twice a week to practice in the arena on the ranch. Team Roping is an rodeo discipline  where two cowboys catch a steer with their ropes on the horns and back legs. The guests are welcome to join this spectacle and may even help or practice a bit of roping on their own.

Since you'll live together with the family on this Working Cattle Ranch you'll truly experience authentic ranch life in the 21st century. However - you'll have time to relax too, and Judy likes to go on a tour with you and show you the area attractions like the Buffalo Jump and the Historic Fort.

You will enjoy this perfect mixture of real cowboy life and relaxing vacation - go for it!
